Quest’opera di George Paul Salle, prodotta per ricordare l’oscura pagina del crollo delle torri di Manhattan, mette in stretto rapporto la tecnologia con il dramma dell’11 settembre e sembra cristallizzare le due torri raffigurate in una cartolina, in un attimo eterno e indefinito.
Anche se entrambe le torri alle 9:11 a.m. dell’undici settembre 2011 erano già state colpite [alle 8:46 a.m. l’impatto sulla WTC 1, alle 9:03 a.m. l’impatto sulla WTC 2], basta la loro presenza su uno schermo di un telefono a preservarne intatta l’esistenza in una grande menzogna tecnologica.
Al tempo stesso G.P.Salle sembra voler alludere al mistero che cela la verità dell’ 9-11. Come se dietro una schermata statica ci fosse dell’altro; con la speranza che un semplice gesto “slide to unlock” (scorri per sbloccare) possa permetterci di vedere oltre quella finta realtà digitale che i media ci hanno trasmesso.
This work by George Paul Salle, created to commemorate the dark page of the Twin Towers collapse in Manhattan, closely links technology to the 9-11 tragedy, as if “freezing” the two towers depicted in a postcard, in an eternal and indefinite instant.
Although the two towers, at 9:11 AM of 11th September 2011, had both already been hit [the impact on WTC 1 was at 8:46 AM, on WTC 2 at 9:03 AM], just their presence on a mobile screen is enough to preserve their existence intact in a big technological lie.
At the same time G.P.Salle seems to hint at the mystery hiding the whole truth of 9-11. As if something more were hidden behind a static screen; with the hope that a simple “slide to unlock” gesture could let us see beyond that fake digital reality broadcast by the media.
